Criteria and Methods of Structural Optimization
The first 3 chapters of this present work review the current state of knowledge in structural optimization, and give a comprehensive study of criteria and mathematical methods. The problems involved in optimization of beams, frames, columns and arches, are treated in chapters 4, 5 and 6. Trusses are dealt with in chapter 7. The last 3 chapters contain solutions of optimal suspended structures, plates and slabs.
The arranging of particular structures in separate chapters will help the reader to find quickly the correct approach for specific problems encountered in design offices. The text of the book is based on a large contribution of original solutions obtained by the authors; but important published papers in world literature are extensively included. With respect to the first Polish edition from 1978, all chapters have been completed by new solutions, examples and references.
Aimed at readers interested in the design of building and civil engineering structures, this book should also appeal to those actively involved in tackling new problems in this field.
