"The business of dust control and air cleaning has been advancing rapidly for many decades and, with our present-day standards for the working and home environments, can account for up to one half of the cost of a specialized building. It is therefore of the utmost importance, both from the viewpoints of dangers to health and the costs incurred, that our understanding of dust control and air cleaning should be both increased and further publicized.

It is with this aim in view that the author examines carefully and thoroughly many aspects of dust control, including the hazards of industrial dusts, the dynamics and sampling of airborne particles and methods employed in industry for their removal. These methods include settlement, wet scrubbing, cyclonic action, electrostatic precipitation and filtration. Other chapters treat filtration theory and filter testing, clean rooms, air pollution and economics.
