Fortunately, through the co- operation of intereated parties in these countries, It has been poasible to compile this publica tion, Earthquake reaistant regulations have been established based on past earthquake experienen and results of research in each selsmic country, To know these regulations not only Increases our knowledge and promotes mutual understanding and cooperation, but they also serve a use ful purpose in furnishing material to draw up new aselsmic regulations where they do not exist and to revise existing ones.
