Shinkenchiku Detail Drawings Collection -Apartment Buildings- = 新建築詳細図集一集合住宅編一
A large number of dwellinghouses have been built in Japan during the 26 years since the Pacific War. With the exception of the very few examples of Dojunkai Apartment Houses and others built before the war, the concept of people living in stacks one above the other was an entirely new experience for us Japanese. The history of urban living in Japan, and thus the collective experience of living in apartment houses, is extremely short when compared to that of the European countries. In spite of this, it may be said that the engineering techniques for multiple unit dwelling houses in Japan has arrived at a certain level.
