Solar Homes and Sun Heating
Homeowners concerned with the high cost of oil and electricity--- and with good conservation practices are becoming anxious to find another source of heat and air conditioning for their homes. The alternative, already available and working in parts of the country, is to use the sun's rays for energy. The basic principle is very simple. When the sun is shining, heat can be absorbed and transferred to the inside of a house. This heat can also be stored to supply needs during the night or in bad weather. A 25 X 40-foot area of sunny roof can deliver a year-round average of better than a million Btu's per day-far more than most conventional home heating systems are ever called upon to produce. The sun's heat is there, and this book tells you how to get it. Whether the solar heating system is designed to handle the full load or only part of it, the fuel, itself, is free.
