Proceedings of The Third International Congress on Acoustics, Stuttgart 1959 (Volume I)
This resolution was adhered to even when the number of lecture registrations had risen to over 300. It was necessary, however, to ask the authors to reduce their contributions to three printed pages if at all possible a length which was in fact too short for a complete article and too long for a summary. The editor, who had to see that this ruling was observed, would like to thank particularly those authors who complied with this requirement, whether before or after being informed of it. He would also ask them not to regret having done so on noticing that some authors failed to show the same comprehension and thus had to be treated as exceptions. A few authors asked in advance that only the summary appearing in the Programme should be printed.
