Space Location + Regional Development
One of the basic problems facing the developing countries is the low standard of living of its people. What is more problematic is that the growth rate of income of these countries barely keeps up with the rate of population growth. There are many reasons for this. Among these are poor natural environments, severe climatic conditions, niggardly endowment of resources, past social and cultural development and restrictive religious practices. All these factors confine economic activity far within its maximum possible limits, thus leading to low output. Frequently, the result is a vicious circle of low output, a high propensity to consume, low savings, and low capital accumulation for the countries concerned. The situation is further complicated by political instability and internal conflicts.
