Development Planning and Spatial Structure
Few books on development are concerned with spatial aspects of change and few books about spatial and regional planning consider Third World problems. Now that many governments in less-developed countries are becoming inter- ested in urban and regional planning it is time to bridge this gap. The aim of this volume of original essays is two fold, to acquaint social scientists, geog- raphers and planners with the nature of urban and regional development in Third World countries, and to inform planners in the less-developed nations about the theoretical and empirical studies relevant to their problems.
