Economic Aspects of Public Housing
The federally assisted public housing program was one of the first programs in the United States designed to ameliorate problems of central city deterioration in our largest metropolitan communities. The construction of new housing units offered at subsidized rentals to low-income tenants was (and continues to be) the central focus of this program, despite numerous administrative adaptations to changing conditions in urban housing markets.
