The Labouring Poor & Urban Class Formation: The Case of Greater Accra
This book investigates class formation, in particular among the labouring poor in Accra, Ghana. Although both reformers and neo-Marxists assume that the success of any anti-poverty strategy depends upon the level of political awareness and organization of the working poor, surprisingly little is known about the nature and determinants of the political consciousness of this amorphous and burgeoning urban class. this study seeks to bridge this gap through a detailed case study.
