Participation of Woman In Water Supply and Sanitation
A comprehensive review of 775 documents has highlighted various aspects of women's traditional involvement in water supply and sanitation, with significant implications for projects and programs aimed at improving these services. This traditional involvement underscores the potential role women can play in such initiatives, benefiting both the projects and the women themselves, while contributing to broader development goals. A comparison between their actual participation and these potential roles reveals the contributions women make in planning and design, construction, maintenance, and management of enhanced water supply and sanitation systems, as well as in health education. Additionally, it identifies areas for further development and research.
