Principles Of Fire Protection Chemistry
Part I of Principles of Fire Protection Chemistry reviews the fundamentals of chemistry for nonchemists. In Part II, the chemical aspects of fire science are explored, with minimal use of mathe matics, but incorporating recent research findings and many practical examples. The fire characteristics of gases, liquids, and solids, including plastics, and the chemistry of smoke are discussed in easy- to-follow, realistic terms. Up-to-date chemical aspects of fire extinguishing agents and fire retardants are reviewed, and useful information on spontaneous ignition and fires in abnormal environ ments is presented. This book has been almost entirely rewritten from R. L. Tuve's first edition, with incorporation of many new insights gained from research over the intervening 13 years.
