Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures
Concrete reinforced by steel bars is called Reinforced Cement Concrete and is abbreviated as R.C.C. It is thus a rational combination of concrete and steel acting together. This combined action of concrete and steel is dependent on important factors such as adequate bond between concrete and steel, Prevention of corrosion of steel bars embedded in the concrete and almost same value of thermal expansion of both. This book is primarily intended for teaching purposes and as a textbook for undergraduate students. The methods used in current design practice have been explained, and the relevant codes and specifications governing practical design have been reffered to at every step. The various design aids is added in this textbook. The use OF design aids is emphasized, as the main business of the structural engineer is to design structures safely, economically and efficiency.
