"The aim of this book is to review the collaborative research conducted in the program. For convenience, we have separated the contributions into four major research areas:
1) Wood material science,
2) Wood biomass chemistry,
3) Wood bioscience, and
4) Wood and environment science.
Since 1996, 25 collaborative research projects have been conducted, and this book documents the academic achievements of the collaborative research projects. particularly those in the last 5 years, and discusses future developments. We hope that this book will be fruitful in order to realize the sustainable production and utilization of tropical forest resources in East Asian countries."
