Women Householders and Housing Strategies: The Case of George, Zambia
This study explores the housing strategies employed by women householders in George, a low-income area in Zambia. It focuses on the challenges and opportunities faced by these women in securing and maintaining housing for themselves and their families. The research highlights the role of socio-economic factors, gender dynamics, and informal housing markets in shaping housing accessibility for women. It also examines the coping mechanisms women adopt in response to the limited availability of affordable housing, as well as the implications of these strategies for their economic stability and social well-being. The findings contribute to a broader understanding of housing issues in urban Zambia, emphasizing the need for inclusive housing policies that address the specific needs of female-headed households.
